ShāToBu, say what?

A few months ago, my sister tried to pass some higher waisted black mom pants along to me. I tried them on in front of her, and although they fit, I was like, "Dude, what is up with this waist? I cannot wear these!"

She then made an assumption that I thought was downright genius! With higher waisted pants, as opposed to the hip-huggers we have been oh-so-comfortable in for the past few years, you are forced to hold in your core, which lends to firmer abs and better posture. GENIUS! We don't call that sister "The Oracle" for nothing!

For the past couple of years (and no, this has NOTHING to do with the fact that I have had three babies), my midsection has just gone to pot. I am small. Always have been, but that doesn't mean I am toned. My stomach, however, was never something to worry about. It could be age, but it also could be my complacency with "holding it all in".

OK, so I didn't take the pants from my sister, but I recently ran across the ShāToBu, which is like a girdle ON STEROIDS! Check it out from the ShāToBu website:

ShāToBu - The Workout You Wear™ - is the revolutionary shaper that
helps women shape, tone and burn more calories during everyday activities.
The benefits go beyond ordinary shapewear - ShaToBu instantly gives a sleeker silhouette, but women can also see and feel a difference in their bodies with regular use over time. By incorporating resistance bands right into the garment, muscles work a little harder and more calories are burned during daily activities.

ShaToBu helps women fit a workout into their normal day, while looking and feeling great.

My "high waisted" ShāToBu came in the mail yesterday. I thought I would get it out of the package and try it on before I put on my PJs. Our four-year-old was in the room with me.

"WHAT... is... THAT?" over and over again from his sweet little freckled face. He was looking at me like, There is NO WAY you will fit inside of that device!

But, I did... eventually... after I tucked all of me in... and, it was feeling like, with everyday wear, it would do EXACTLY what I was hoping it would.

Holding in my core wasn't an option with the ShāToBu. I did  not have a choice! We aren't talking Spanx here, people!   In fact, even in the few minutes I had it on, it gave me a workout!

This sounds silly, but I was not mentally prepared to put that sucker back on today, all day. It's been a sucky week and I am exhausted, so I shall start my ShāToBu on MONDAY!

Which means you need to keep checking back next week to see how it is going! For your sake, I hope I am not inclined to put a picture of me, wearing the ShāToBu, as my "wordless wednesday" image ...

  1. that's right...I am smart! Doing some ACTUAL exercise might also help with the core strength, as well, FYI.
